August 15, 2003 CMDRA Edmonton's Bud Park The fourth race in the six race CMDRA series returned to Edmonton. The last event, also at Edmonton, was a total washout with only a few qualifying passes. This past weekend, the event went to completion. Top Fuel, the premier class in the CMDRA, did not have it's usual suspects in the final round. First time finalist Wayne Eastcott, riding a Dave O'Hara Race Technology bike, took the win over George Welch. Wayne ran consistent low 7's to get the win. In qualifying, perennial champion Ron Houniet blasted the track record with a 6.83 shot but could not run the numbers in eliminations. Pro Fuel saw Chris Gartman single for the win in the four bike field. The two competitors on the other side of the ladder could not make their round giving Gartman the win who defeated Andy Beauchemin in the first round. Pro Dragster had Dave Stickle defeat Al Miles in the three bike class. In Pro Mod, Gord Smith parlayed his #1 qualifying effort into a win over #2 qualifierWalter Dwelsdorf. Modified was won by Ross Cuthbertson. Supergas had Bentley Hamm in the winners circle. Super Bike was won by Shawn Graham. Dave Galbiati (SpeedZone Rider) was a dominant force at Bud Park, winning the Street Bike Shootout series, the Street Bike Class and the "King of the Hill". Here are the point standings to August 15th, 2003: Screamin Eagle Top Fuel Series Pro Dragster Al Miles 1 Harley Davidson 227 Pro Fuel Andy Beauchemin 54 Harley Davidson 200 Pro Modified Gord Smith 647 Kawasaki 308 Modified Ross Cuthbertson 7 Harley Davidson 233 Super Gas Bentley Hamm 711 Harley Davidson 243 Super Bike Troy Rypstra 3 Kawasaki 241 Street Bike Shootout Dave Galbiati 682 Kawasaki 329 Street Series Dave Galbiati 682 Kawasaki 350
July 11, 2003 Street Legal Friday night racing included the bikes and Dave Galbiati was out with his nitrous assisted Street Bike. He ran low 9's including a great 9.05 with only one system working properly. Here is a great burnout shot and then the launch in a cloud of smoke.
June 14, 2003 Pacific Raceway Kent Washington. Kerker Motorcycle has only 13 bikes in the field, but it is a strong field that is led by Myles Hauer and Jeff Havens. Both had a .003 light , with Hauer being the first so he nailed down the top Spot. SpeedZone Magazine's Al Omond, hot off a runner up finish at Woodburn in #9 with a .026. Here is the field after final qualifying. 1 692 Miles Hauer, Seattle WA, '81 Suzuki 0.003 June 14, 2003 Columbus, Ohio. Pontiac Excitement Nationals Pro Stock Bike is lead by first time #1 qualifier Fred Collis riding a Bryce 'Star Racing' tuned Suzuki. Collis went 7.193 to be the only bike in the seven teens. June 10, 2003 Motorcross at MRP A great evening as Tuesday Motocross had its
last night before the Canadian tour hits town this Friday when all
the top riders in Canada and many from the US will invade Mission
Raceway Park. Only the intermediates and lower were out as the Pros
and experts could not ride to get any advantage over the riders this
weekend. Two of the local young riders that I especially go down to
the heat. Here is a shot of Parker and Taylor starting at the top, and then a few other unknown riders including one of the jrs.

June 1, 2003 Ron Houniet starts the 2003 CMDRA season with a surprise surprise, win! (Check out Horsepowerheaven for a bunch of great photos) The Houniet dominance is back against in the Top Fuel
class. The CMDRA's first event of the year got off to a great start
as all bike classes had good numbers except for Pro Stock, which only
had two riders. Ron Houniet qualified #1, ran low et every round of
qualifying and every round of eliminations except first round and
defeated Brian Hall in the final. His 6.75/204mph was not challenged
as Hall could only run a best of 7.16/195 mph. In the semis, Houniet
defeated Jamie Mitchell from Mission and Hall defeated George Welch. Hall set the MPH record in the CMDRA when he went 218 mph twice, once in the first round and the second 218 mph run in the win against Welch. The numbers were very surprising concidering the ets. in both runs, as both were in the 7.30 range. A few new riders got their licence in Top Fuel including Rob Smith, Marc Rossignol and Tripod, making this the strongest class in the CMDRA. Very Cool!! In Pro Fuel, Andy Beauchemin from Edmonton defeated Chris Gartman 7.30 to 7.49. Pro Modified had a great final with Gord Smith going 7.65 at a very fast 193 mph to edge Buff Kob who went 7.45/177 but gave up two tenths on the tree. Smith also went 197 mpg in the semis to reset the speed record. Here are all the results at the MIssion event. The next event is In Prince George June 20th-22nd.
Top Fuel: Houniet, Maple Ridge B.C. 6.75/204 mph, r/u Brian Hall, Mission, B.C. 7.16/195 mph Pro Dragster: Pro Dragster Pro Modified Pro Stock Modified Super Gas Super Bike Street Bike Shootout Street The next race is in three weeks at Prince George. For a bunch of great photos go to HH
Qualifying complete at MRP Ron Houniet is to no one's surprise leading the 14 bike contingent in Top Fuel Harley at Mission Raceway at the first CMDRA event of the year. He ran a CMDRA record 6.66 and a top speed of 208 mph to set both ends of the track record and the Assoc. records in both mph and et. He is the only rider in the 6 second zone. Brian Hall, George Welch, Wayne Eastcott and Jamie Mitchell are all in the 7.0's and are #'s 2-5 respectively. Rounding out the 8 bike field is Glen Char who ran 7.70. Not in the field with the new technology designed fuel and clutch managed bike is Dave O'Hara who is still working out the bugs. Just wait that bike will fly. Another cool bike it the one owned by Arlie Becker. His is a blown Top Fuel bike and is quite different then all the others on the property. In Pro Fuel, Steve Crombs ran a great 7.06 to take the number 1 spot, Beauchemins's Print Works bike mad two of the most exciting runs in the class when he went over 600 feet on the rear tire on two of the passes and then hit with the front wheel hard. He got very loose one one of the runs and still went sub 7.50. His best was a 7.24 to put him in second spot just ahead of Steve Hiedner out on his new bike. Hiedner went 7.31 but hurt the motor and is out of competition. Modified #1 qualifier is Ross Cuthbertson, Pro Stock has Lee Ulrich in the #1 spot. Pro Mod has a strong field of 7 second bikes lead by Buff Kobb from Coeur D'Alene. Gord McMartin leads in Super Bike. That's all the results I got as I had to leave early Saturday so I'll fill in the blanks this afternoon. For a bunch of awesome photos from this race go to horsepowerheaven. Larry has outdone himself with his pics from Saturday. Here is a couple digitals I got Saturday. All the film shots to be shown tonight or tomorrow.
Two Pro Fuel riders.

The CMDRA 's first race of the year is this weekend at Mission Raceway Park. Top Fuel Harley's, Pro Stock, Pro Mod Street Bikes and everything in between will be competing this weekend. Friday was a test n tune session at the track and a number of riders were out testing their new rides or old rides with new stuff on them. Dave O'Hara Race Technologies and Hell Racing were out for the first time this year, hoping to get a couple test runs on the new bike, but the new NHRA Top Fuel type pneumatic clutch gave them a few gremlins and they will have to fly by the seat of their pants on Saturday. As well as Dave's new ride, their were a number of new O'Hara bikes out their under various different riders. At least five or six are running the Hell Racing steel. Steve Hiedner is out with anew bike as well and is going to run Top Fuel all year I believe. Multi time champ Ron Houniet did not test Friday but he has been out this year already on the AHDRA circuit and has a runner up at Vegas already under his belt and a new career best et of 6.65/209 mph. He will be tough again this year. Other guys out this year included Brian Hall as well and he ran career best numbers at Phoenix. At the AHDRA event their in April he went 6.76/201. Pro Fuel should have 5-7 bikes out this year. Pro Mod should also have a strong field in 2003, #1 Len Darnell was out testing Friday as was Dave Galbiati. In Street Bike, Dave Galbiati ran a couple 8 second laps Friday and one was way up on the rear wheel at 300 feet. I'll have the qualifying numbers up tonight and a few stories. Here are a few Friday pictures.
