March 1, 2009

The Edmonton Motorsports show was on this weekend and the newly painted Monte Carlo debuted in the Joey's Place show area.

Julie and Rob are on holidays until the beginning of March and during that time the West Coast car will recieve its new Ace Manufacturing paint job

February update

The car that will be stationed in Edmonton at ACE Racing has arrived there and the body is now at Joey's Place in Edmonton getting prepped for paint for the new scheme. The schedule is set and is posted on the website at www.atchisonracing.com . The IHRA Mopar Canadian Nationals is scheduled on there as well because we are in negotiations with Grand Bend and IHRA to have a match race there on the Saturday Night.
Our participation is contingent on us selling a number of tickets to the event so those who would like tickets for the race I would appreciate you contact me again. The 10% discount has been extended again for this year and will be passed on to all those who purchase tickets from us.
There will be no Funny Cars at IHRA events this year except the 2 Canadian Races as IHRA has chosen to drop Funny Cars in 2009 and will only be offering Top Fuel, Pro Stock and Pro Mod as professional classes. I haven't heard if they plan on lowering the ticket prices because of smaller car counts but I don't anticipate that.
Rob and the crew will be racing in Norwalk in May at the NHRA Div. 3 race which is always a blast with Bill Sr. and JR. and their operation.
Joining ACE Manufacturing, West Coast Transportation, TEAM Truck, Atchison Machine and PRN this year we welcome Ryan Bell and his staff at Flyin's Truck Wash in Edmonton and PowerDsyl diesel fuel additive which we tested last year in our truck with great results. Flyin's has been helping us out at the Rocky Mountain Nationals and keeping our rig pristine and it is great that they have expanded their program with us for 2009.

It is really exciting being able to join up with the ACE Racing and Manufacturing family.” states Atchison. “With all of the instability surrounding IHRA and the Alcohol Funny Car class coupled with the addition of my son Wyatt I felt it was time for a change. I got a chance to meet Harold Parfett at the Rocky Mountain Nationals and we hit it off. We have been talking racing and throwing ideas back and forth since July. We are very happy to finally be able to announce we will be racing with them for the next three years and possibly beyond.”

Atchison will join the successful Plaizier family at Team ACE Racing. “Eddy, Casey and Frankie have a history of winning, they are great racers and I’m very excited to meet them, watch them race and become a part of their racing family” stated Rob.

This new racing “Family” is going to take it one step further as Atchison Machine Service Inc. of London, Ontario will serve as engine builder for the ACE Manufacturing Pro Nostalgia Funny Car. “We are eager to get involved with the 7.50 nostalgia funny car combination. We know that we can apply all of the machining and assembling techniques we use on our Top Alcohol car and give the IBAA funny car the longevity and consistency it will need to win races.” Also as Canada’s only Lenco transmission dealer Atchison Machine will be in charge of transmission service and repair for the entire team.
