SONOMA, Calif. -- Race #4 in Division 7's Lucas Oil series

The NHRA Pacific Division put the fourth of seven races on its NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series schedule in the books. The Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions were both in the winner's circle for the first time this season on the divisional level. Aaron Olivarez took the win in Dragster and Mark Woznichak won in Funny Car.
Sandy, Utah's Olivarez carried his No. 1 qualifying effort into the final round. His opponent in the final, Brandon Johnson of Shelton, Wash., red-lighted handing the win to Olivarez who smoked the tires earlier in the run and finished it with a 16.194-second elapsed time. Olivarez was runner-up at the South Central Division race in Ennis, Texas, and won the national event in Gainesville, Fla., in March.

Woznichak got to the final round by beating the class' No. 1 qualifier, Doug Gordon of Paso Robles, Calif., in the semifinals and then taking on the No. 2 qualifier, John Weaver of Newport Beach, Calif., in the final. Woznichak ran 5.700 seconds at 252.95 mph against Weaver's 5.820-second, 249.97 mph pass. This was Woznichak's best performance of the season. At the previous three events he failed to make the eight-car field once and lost in the first round twice.

In Comp Eliminator, Ed Sigmon of Chatsworth, Calif., took the win as a follow-up to his runner-up finish at the last event. Super Stocker Greg Luneack of Vista, Calif., scored the win as did Jesse Adams of Yuba City, Calif., in Stock Eliminator. Matt Hartzell of Atwater, Calif., drove his Super Comp dragster to his second consecutive win while Novato, Calif., Super Gas racer Rick Beckstrom won for the first time this season. Phoenix's Scott Rollins won in Super Street, Ray Shearer of Bakersfield, Calif., won in Top Comp, and Timothy Height of Richmond, Calif., won in the Korbel Super Eliminator class.

Pacific Division racers head to Fallon, Nev., for the next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event. Top Gun Raceway will host the event for the first time September 9-11.
