Hank Coolidge (.056rt) 6.124 238.40 def. Bucky Austin (.101rt) 7.613 127.96

Hank Coolidge has another trouble free run on a race track that was possibly the trickiest racing surface in the entire 45 race Lucas Oil series. Bucky had to pedal the car a couple times as he was loose and all over his lane, alot different from his previous three runs where they were relatively straight and without any shake or smoke. The win by Coolidge brings him into 6th place in the division 6 standings with two more races (possibly three if he attends Fontana next week), left on his divisional schedule on the West Coast he has a chance to move way up in the standings

FALLON, Nev. --

Top Gun Raceway will host its first NHRA Pacific Division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event September 9-11. The race is the fifth of seven on the division schedule and will feature drivers in eight categories, including 260 mph Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car, vying for valuable points leading to divisional and national championships. The division's Korbel Super Eliminator class and the Team Superstores Top Comp category will also run in conjunction with the event.
The top points earner in Top Alcohol Dragster, Chris Demke of Sunland, Calif., was involved in an accident during qualifying at the division's race at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif., and is out of competition for the time being. However, after scoring wins at the first three races of the season, he is 76 points ahead of the second place Robert Perkins of Bluffdale, Utah, and more than 130 points ahead of Las Vegas' Duane Shields who is in third place in the standings. Perkins was runner-up to Demke at Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif., and took the win at an out-of-division race in Denver. Shields suffered a series of first-round losses before making it to the semifinals at an out-of-division race in Mission, B.C.

There is a closer race in the Top Alcohol Funny Car class. Anaheim Hills, Calif., racer Dennis Taylor is less than 30 points ahead of second place Steve Gasparrelli, a former two-time division champ. The two drivers squared off in the final round of the season-opener at Firebird International Raceway in Phoenix where Taylor took the win. Taylor also won an out-of-division race in Woodburn, Ore. In between the wins, he went to the semifinals twice and had a first-round loss. Gasparrelli, of West Covina, Calif., earned a win at Southwestern International Raceway in Tucson, Ariz., and was runner-up at Famoso Raceway. He went to the semis at Infineon Raceway.

In Comp Eliminator, Ed Sigmon of Chatsworth, Calif., will be looking for his third straight final-round appearance. He was runner-up at Famoso Raceway and took the win at Infineon Raceway. Super Comp competitor Matt Hartzell could earn his third consecutive in-division win at Top Gun Raceway. The Atwater, Calif., racer won at Famoso Raceway and at Infineon Raceway. He did travel to Woodburn, Ore., for an out-of-division race in July where he went to the third round.

Gates at Top Gun Raceway open at 7 a.m. each day. Qualifying and time trials will start at 8 a.m. Friday and continue Saturday at 8 a.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car will qualify at 4 p.m. Friday and will have two sessions on Saturday, at 12:30 and 4:30 p.m. Eliminations will start Sunday morning at 8. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car will run first round at noon.
