April 24, 2004 Bracket/Jr/Combo Gallery is here. Exhibition/licencing gallery is here. Saturday saw a number of new drivers and new rides debut at Mission Raceway. 16 yr. old Francesca Plazier make the necessary 6 runs all in one day to get licensed in dad's old digger. She ran an 8.60 best. Bob Marshall was out shaking down the newly painted and bigger hp Cutlass. Bob ended the day with a great 7.43/185. Joe Mellof was out with his new big 632 inch Corvette 'Sharkman' Corvette. He ran a 7.55/184 best. Rash Dhaliwal brought out his very cool supercharged (Pro Charger) Pro Street new style Mustang. He made two wheels up runs that netted a 7.70 best. Paul Julien had a guy licensing in his TAD. He made one 200 foot lap and two others were ended with broken blower belts. Tim Nemeth was back out at the track in his TAFC. He spun the tires real hard in his only lap. Roy Lazic sold his cool doorslammer Corvette to a buddy of his and has two new cars for the doorslammer class. One is a 88 Firebird complete with a blown alky motor. The other is a 53 Studebaker that will be out in 2005. I can't wait to see both rides. The car count today with MRP competing against Seattle and Bremerton this weekend was pretty good. A total of 170 cars were on hand Saturday on a day that did not look to good in the early AM. Here are the winners of day one of the double header. Martin Rachel defeated Dan Parsons in Super Pro. Skeeter Keeve got by Cory Thompson. Steve Volk got the win over Don Elgin. Stuart Kienas won bike over Jan Cook. Roger Winter defeated Don Wilson's in the Hot Rod final. and Josh Mellof won Jr. over Erica Carlile.

Mom, I had a blast. It was awesome! Francesca Plazier did a great job.
Glen Braid debuted his newly painted Canso. he was very loose one one pass and shook hard on the other.
Joe Mellof made three or four hits today and ran a 7.55 best.
Rash Dhaliwal brought out his new 'Stang. It is absolutely gorgeous!
April, 12, 2004 (photo page from this past weekend is now up). Weekend # 1 of Mission's Best Western Summit ET series. Under 80 degree temperatures on the Easter holiday weekend at MRP, the track gold card race had to be rescheduled due to a timing system glitch that in fact affected other Division 6 tracks. Everyone was having a great time regardless and just happy to be out doing what they have waiting for since the end of the 2003 season. The winners on Sunday were; Warren Jacobson (Super Pro) over Damien Giddens. In Pro, Shawn Blair defeated Josh Shaper and Don Elgin won Sportsman over Glenn Fillington. Dave LeBlanc defeated Stuart Kienas in Bike and Brittany Sibley defeated Erica Carlile in Jr. Here are a few pictures of a few Easter weekend competitors. Go here for a complete gallery. (Jr. pictures are here)
April 2, 2004 Mission Raceway had their first Street legal event of the year and a good number of imports and domestics were on hand. The limelight was taken by neither of the above thought it was taken by a couple diesel rigs. One a Dodge pickup that ripped the track to low 11's at 125+ mph. The other diesel was a......yes a new track tractor with all the fixin's. A sweeper for the front and a tire scraper for the rear. Mission has a chance now to had a surface they used to be famous for, but one that had dwindled over the past few years. I am so excited I even offered my services during the week to drive that puppy up and down the track to help the facility reach its traction potential. Tada!!!!
A very unique curved tires scraper system that is adjustable
A large 6 foot sweeper.
A 125 mph diesel witha large smoke stack out the box
Dodge vs Chevy 5.5 litres. The Dodge won.
A very nice Charger
THis was also a quick truck. mid 12's if I recall right
Nicce Mustang
Only two bikes on hand
The 'Cruiser went mid 15's at 90 mph
One of the two ride of choice for the import crew. This and Honda's
Pretty quick 240Z

Thanx in advance MRP March 14, 2004 Testing in March at MRP Finally the opening at Mission Raceway was not plagued by snow or rain. The 2004 test n tune season got underway under glorious skies and temperatures in the upper 50's. Track temperature reached the high 80's and traction for the first 200 feet was pretty good. Close to 75 cars were at the track and all got a wack of runs down the legendary 1/4 mile. A number of new cars were out as well as a few guys licensing. Even a couple high horsepower doorslammers made a few laps including Bruce Perkin in the family E/SMA. Layne Wooley doing on track laps instead of dyno hits and Frank Nelson making check out passes in his 1150 hp Firebird. A couple 2003 high placing racers were on track making early season runs including Warren Jacobson, Otto Shulte, Chris Stone and Bob Behnke to name a few. A Pro Dragster Nitro Harley rider getting licensed gave me my first nitro fix of the year. There was even one of the Pro Street racers up from Seattle making some early hits. Here are a few pictures form yesterday. Sorry I don't have all the names but alot of cars and car #'s were new to me. If you see your pic on the page and don't have a name to it, email me and let me know. We'll put your name to the picture. Pictures are also here and here.

Feb. 8, 2004 Mission Raceway Park local racers meeting was held today with track reps, tech officials, Mike Rice and Eagle Motorplex Bill Kraus in attendance. A very laid back affair with very few changes in store for 2004, and by the sounds of it no price increases. They are still waiting for the final quotes to come in, but they can buy insurance through Canadian brokers this season. A few changes for Divisional events in 2004 including a gamblers race for electronic and no electronic cars on Friday and a Door car Top Comp Shootout. Very cool. Look for more info in the next couple weeks.
The honchos including left to right. Greg Park Tech, Mike Rice Div 6 director, Joe Horvat Treasurer, Jim Hinds, VP, Wally Duperon, Track race director, Bill Kraus (hidden), Eagle manager, Ralf Ehlers, el presidenty, Ron Farmer, legend, Rick Farmer legends son and the voice of Mission Raceway and Richardt Scholtz club secretary and Media director. January 12, 2004 Changes at MRP, as the elections for the new executive members are held for the 2004 season. At the top, Rick Farmer's tenure as President has ended as Ralph Ehlers is voted in as the new top dog. Ralph was Vice President last season, and was the only other nominee running against Farmer. The Vice President for 2004 is Jim Hinds, who was a director and in charge of security in 2003. He obviously replaces Ehlers in that position. The only other change was in the directors position, where Aubrey Holmes got the nod who replaces new vice Hinds. Five or six new members were voted into the club earlier this winter. The first time new members have been voted into BCCCA in a number of years. Bob Behnke, Chris Stone, Bill Clifford, Bill Dray and Brian Nauwyn (sp?) are welcomed to the club. Will this make any different in the everyday running of the facility, I don't think so, but we will have to wait and see. Good Luck to all the new members and, congrat's on the new executive.
