Thanx in advance MRP March 14, 2004 Testing in March at MRP Finally the opening at Mission Raceway was not plagued by snow or rain. The 2004 test n tune season got underway under glorious skies and temperatures in the upper 50's. Track temperature reached the high 80's and traction for the first 200 feet was pretty good. Close to 75 cars were at the track and all got a wack of runs down the legendary 1/4 mile. A number of new cars were out as well as a few guys licensing. Even a couple high horsepower doorslammers made a few laps including Bruce Perkin in the family E/SMA. Layne Wooley doing on track laps instead of dyno hits and Frank Nelson making check out passes in his 1150 hp Firebird. A couple 2003 high placing racers were on track making early season runs including Warren Jacobson, Otto Shulte, Chris Stone and Bob Behnke to name a few. A Pro Dragster Nitro Harley rider getting licensed gave me my first nitro fix of the year. There was even one of the Pro Street racers up from Seattle making some early hits. Here are a few pictures form yesterday. Sorry I don't have all the names but alot of cars and car #'s were new to me. If you see your pic on the page and don't have a name to it, email me and let me know. We'll put your name to the picture. Pictures are also here and here.
Bruce Perkin ran right close to the national record in 0 feet of correct air. I saw a 8.76 out of the Firebird
Chris Stone launching hard.
Otto Shulte getting the jump on the competition.
Warren Jacobson 2004 S Pro champion.
SpeedZone's Pat Harden ran carer bests on Saturday with a new Lock up and Lighter wheels. A 13.03 best was what I saw. DOn't know if he got into the 12's.
MRP's Ken Bradley was out as well
This Super Shifer Bug had the rods exiting the block right at 1300 feet. Och!
Nice Shorty P/U
Chris Helde
Chris Bie in his Super Comp Dragster. Weird helmet combination. Open face and ski googles. Talk about grass root racing.
Bob Behnke is looking for a big year in 2004.
Al Chinn out upgrading his licence or looking to run in the 9's for the first time.
I think one of the MRP security guys in this nice Nova.
Certainly different ride.
Nice Falcon.
This was a cool Ford stick car. Frmer was drooling.
Pro Dragster Harley made a bunch of laps.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE; YOURS, MISSION RACEWAY PARK
Feb. 8, 2004 Mission Raceway Park local racers meeting was held today with track reps, tech officials, Mike Rice and Eagle Motorplex Bill Kraus in attendance. A very laid back affair with very few changes in store for 2004, and by the sounds of it no price increases. They are still waiting for the final quotes to come in, but they can buy insurance through Canadian brokers this season. A few changes for Divisional events in 2004 including a gamblers race for electronic and no electronic cars on Friday and a Door car Top Comp Shootout. Very cool. Look for more info in the next couple weeks.
The honchos including left to right. Greg Park Tech, Mike Rice Div 6 director, Joe Horvat Treasurer, Jim Hinds, VP, Wally Duperon, Track race director, Bill Kraus (hidden), Eagle manager, Ralf Ehlers, el presidenty, Ron Farmer, legend, Rick Farmer legends son and the voice of Mission Raceway and Richardt Scholtz club secretary and Media director. January 12, 2004 Changes at MRP, as the elections for the new executive members are held for the 2004 season. At the top, Rick Farmer's tenure as President has ended as Ralph Ehlers is voted in as the new top dog. Ralph was Vice President last season, and was the only other nominee running against Farmer. The Vice President for 2004 is Jim Hinds, who was a director and in charge of security in 2003. He obviously replaces Ehlers in that position. The only other change was in the directors position, where Aubrey Holmes got the nod who replaces new vice Hinds. Five or six new members were voted into the club earlier this winter. The first time new members have been voted into BCCCA in a number of years. Bob Behnke, Chris Stone, Bill Clifford, Bill Dray and Brian Nauwyn (sp?) are welcomed to the club. Will this make any different in the everyday running of the facility, I don't think so, but we will have to wait and see. Good Luck to all the new members and, congrat's on the new executive.
