Nitro Harley
Nate Gagnon and Jim Schellenberg match raced over the two days. Nate Gagnon was a bracket racer on his Nitro Harley as he went between 6.40-6.50 on every lap at speeds between 210-225. It was one of the best performances I have seen from one bike in five runs down the 1/4 mile. Jim is still getting a handle on his Harley with a new clutch combo and tune-up. His last run on Sunday saw the bike run harder than I have ever seen as he was going 189 to the 1/8 mile and was on a 6.5-6.7 pass. The engine let go at 800 feet and he coasted through the traps in 7.05/140. It was easily Jim best effort in a while and would have been his best run ever. Too bad!!

Feature story below taken from the Local Pager (Mission City Record (courtesy Dean Murdoch) Have you ever seen a race car go 300+mph (over 500kph)? This
weekend "SMOKE, FIRE and THUNDER" returns to Mission Raceway. Starting
with the always popular Jet cars. Two Jet Dragsters and Two Jet Funny Cars will
rip down the ¼ mile at Speeds in excess of 300 mph (500 kph). Chuck Haynes
has the current track and Canadian record with a 314.57 mph blast set in 2009.
On that run he went 5.003 (so close to a four second et). Last year he went 312
mph. He has a brand new car this year after crashing in the early part of the
season and hopes to reset the Canadian record. The next
feature is another Canada vs U.S.A. battle. Chilliwack BC's Tim Nemeth in his
"Iceman" Nitro Mustang will race Mark Sanders in the "Mr. Explosive"
Nitro Nova. These cars are loud and fast (five seconds at over 230mph).
