Top Fuel qualifying at Houston was very similar to Gainesville in round one, in that it was run on a new surface, and the cars had trouble making a full pass. It was no problem in the evening session as Brandon Bernstein and seven other cars ran in the 4.50's. The Prince leads with a stout 4.516 and is followed by one of the Kalitta cars, Doug, who went 4.533. TJ Zizzo rounds out the bottom of the top 16 of 20 cars that made laps. Not in the field as of yet is Scott Kalitta, Rhonda Hartman, Scott Weis and Mitch King Here is the field after two rounds.

In Funny Car, Gary Densham is on top after two rounds, with a 4.846 @ 311 mph. Canadian Jeff Arend is surprisingly in the two spot after finishing his re-licencing and making a career best 4.878 pass, all in one shot. Last event winner, Phil Burkart is #3 with a 4.89. John Force has a 5.55 best so far and the Winternational's winner, Jerry Toliver, is just ahead of Force with a 5.53. They sit #13 and #14 after two sessions. The only car out of the field after t two rounds is Gary Scelzi.
