6721 Tom Manfred 0.008 10.972 131.78 def. 6641 Mike Scheffler 0.033 10.956 133.87

Top Sportsman

6476 Randy Johnson 0.008 7.536 182.11 (Dial: 7.53) def. 6157 Todd Hoerner
-0.009 6.795 204.98 (dial 6.77 )
Ouch .009 red for Hoerner. Johnson was almost unbeatable anyway, that's a 14 thousandths of a second package thrown down by the Bothell Driver. Hoerner lost on on the line, but must have enjoyed going almost 205 mph in the loss.

Top Dragster

62 Andy Morris 0.101 7.304 180.16 (7.27) def. 6397 Dale Green 0.135 7.143 188.41 ( 7.12)

Super Comp

6426 Mike Shannon 0.104 8.906 170.84 def. 609 Andrew Morris -0.009 8.909 165.01
Mike Shannon may have seen the red light, but he was dead late off the line, Morris had a good run, but the red-eye was on his lane... Let the celebrations begin Shannon is the first Canadian winner of the day.

Edmonton's Fox Hunt

"Mother Nature Has Never Been A Drag Racing Fan"...

The 2007 edition of the FoxHunt was held at Castrol Raceway for the first time in many years this past Saturday. This marks the final big event before the IHRA Rocky Mountain Nationals in early July. Many racers were eager to test their rides before then.

The weather started out perfect for racing, as cool, cloudy, and windy conditions helped the cars perform their best. However, conditions were changing every few minutes. Sportsman drivers were changing their dial-in two, maybe even three times before their run. Qualifying was intense, as many drivers in the Quick Rod and Top Sportsman classes would run their exact class index. The quick rod class had three drivers run in the 9.10 - 9.11 time spot, with the #1 Qualifying spot going to Team ACE Racing's Francesca Plaizier, who ran almost exactly 9.100.

Pro Nostalgia Funnycar class also got in two qualifying sessions, with Joey Steckler grabbing the pole with a 7.52. . In attendance were Joey Steckler, Eddy Plaizier, Cory Kincaid, Tim Boychuk, Jason Bussey, Darrell Webb, Mark Campbell and Tony Kupris. Many Pro Nostalgia cars were running 7.30's with the cool weather.

In TA/D, Greg Sereda was to match race alongside 18 yr. old Ashley Bart. Bart could not get the car started on the line. This left Greg on a single, his engine exploded about halfway down the track.

TA/FC also had some troubles. Nathan Sitko's throttle linkage broke halfway down the track, rendering his pedal useless against Trevor Lebsack. Kevin Therres, with his new blue and green paint scheme, also had problems, as his blower belt let go. There was a large flame under the car, and then the hood relief panel shot up into the air. The car was not seriously damaged. The final pairing was Ken Kraus against Cal Tebb. These two looked to have the first clean race of the night, but Ken crossed over into Cal's lane at the 1000ft mark, scaring the crowd and I’m sure himself. Both drivers’ were quick to react, which prevented what could have been disastrous.

Terry Capp piloted Ron Hodgson’s born again "Pacemaker/BubbleUp " Nostalgia Nitro/FC. Fans were treated to a match race against Terry Capp and Mike Grekul. Mike Grekul is in the seat of Tim and Rhonda Stevenson’s 71 Nostalgia Mustang Nitro/FC. Capp had a quick run against Grekul, running in the 6.40's, but got in trouble after the finish line, as both sets of headers scraped the ground, leaving a trail of sparks, and causing some ground effects, sending the car veering to the right side. Terry kept it off the wall, and the car returned with minimal damage.

Jason Duchene and Randy Bykowsky were also on the property. Randy Bykowsky’s new "Hi-Velocity" 2006 Monte Carlo body had a very cool new paint scheme. Jason ran first in his Firebird Funny Car, but lost traction at the 60ft mark, and idled the rest of the track. Randy pedaled the car after a similar loss in traction and ended up with a respectable pass.

The final run of the first segment was the Jet Car showdown, featuring Brad Janishewski in his "Rollin Thunder" Jet Civic, and Bruce Andrew in his "Northern Effects" Jet Dragster. The fire show went fine, but Bruce's chutes deployed during staging procedure, he was unable to make the run. Brad was given a single, posting a 7.09 at over 200 miles per hour.

The sportsman cars made it through their quarter-final round, but it began raining just as the Pro Nostalgia cars came up to the line. The cars were pulled off the track as it started to sprinkle. The skies cleared for a few minutes after that. During this time, Kevin Therres brought out his new 2007 Jet Corvette, along with Brad Janishewski, to do a fire show. Both cars looked spectacular, and smoked out a few spectators up in the skybox.

A very nice Fuel Altered

Bucky's Fuel flopper was the quickest at on the weekend, with a 6.13 @ only 171 would have been a 5.8. He went 198 to half track, possibly the quickest and fastest first half ever for a nostalgia flopper.

Shawn Cowie ripped off a great 5.32 @ 270 in only his fourth full lap

One of the restoration progects for Bucky.

Nice Wheelie by this Austin

Greg Carlile was #1 in Top Comp with a 6.70

Lisa Lavoie in her new nostalgia A/Fuel. She will face off against hubby Claude at MRP in July.
